The Çeşme Peninsula, with its rich resources and strategic location, is one of Turkey’s most important regions. Working as an architect in this area brings a unique responsibility. Within the serene and humble scale of the environment, the design approach should always reflect the modern spirit of today while also being representative of the region.

The Bluer project, in this context, was designed on one of the most valuable and sea-facing plots in the Çeşme Peninsula. The entire potential of the region was explored and incorporated into the design. Data such as sunlight, wind, views, and greenery were decisive in shaping the project program. A design approach was adopted that faces south and turns its back to the harsh northern winds, using these winds to cool the structure. Despite the challenging geometry of the site, the best angles for the views were carefully determined. Throughout the project, open terraces were proposed with the aim of creating shade towards the sun and providing each user with their own green terrace. Through these green terraces, each unit on each floor gained the spirit of a “garden apartment.”

Indoor and outdoor uses, as well as their transitions, were significant criteria throughout the project. Terrace areas were designed as extensions of the living spaces of the units. The interior garden, designed as a quiet and shaded space, adds a different perspective to the access corridors of all units. The social facilities connected to the interior garden and pool levels house all the social amenities needed. Simple and natural materials further enhance the architectural strength of the design. As the project approaches the sea, the height is reduced to three stories to establish a modest connection with the sea in the silhouette.

The Bluer project, with all its potentials and architectural approach, will take the architectural perspective of the region to a new level.
